Northern Youth Groups Demand Action Over ACF HQ Sealing

The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations (JACON) condemned the sealing of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) headquarters by the Nigeria Police Force, describing the action as illegal and unconstitutional. Muhammad Isa, the Director of Public Strategy and Communication for JACON, and Comrad Raphael Terkolar, the group's secretary, issued a joint statement asserting that the closure of the ACF office represents a dangerous assault on the rule of law and fundamental rights of associations.

They criticized the police for exceeding their constitutional powers by sealing a private property without a court order, which they deemed an abuse of power. The youth coalition accused the police of attempting to silence the ACF's position on national issues and urged the ACF to pursue legal action against the police.

JACON warned that northern youth might mobilize for peaceful protests if the ACF headquarters remains sealed, amidst ongoing leadership crises within the ACF, including disputes over the tenure and allegations of financial misconduct.
