Norway's NFF to Challenge FIFA Over Balogun's Ban Suspension

Lise Klaveness, president of the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), announced intentions to file a formal complaint with FIFA's ethics committee concerning the suspension of Folarin Balogun's World Cup ban. Klaveness stated that the incident, which followed Balogun's red card during a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, undermines the integrity of football.

FIFA's intervention to suspend the ban was reportedly influenced by a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Klaveness criticized the decision-making process, noting that it was made solely by FIFA's disciplinary committee chairman, Mohammad al-Kamali, without consulting other committee members. She emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards in football, warning against the dangerous precedent set by bending rules for state leaders.

Klaveness, who has led the NFF since 2022, expressed that the issue must not be ignored, as it affects players, coaches, and fans alike.
