Obasanjo Advocates for NOUN Law Program and AI Adoption

On Friday, former President Olusegun Obasanjo called for significant reforms at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), urging the reinstatement of its law program to enhance student enrollment and the integration of artificial intelligence across its academic framework. This appeal was made during a visit to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he met with the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Uduma Orji Uduma, and members of the university's management team.

Obasanjo emphasized the importance of academic progress driven by technological innovation and encouraged the institution's leadership to embrace modernization to widen educational access. He acknowledged the previous efforts of former Vice Chancellor Professor Olufemi Peter, who had made notable strides in embedding artificial intelligence into the curriculum.

Currently, NOUN has approximately 300,000 registered students, with around 190,000 actively participating. Professor Uduma assured that reviving the law program would be a top priority alongside ongoing reform efforts.
