NPA boss Dantsoho emerges Vice-President of global ports body

Abubakar Dantsoho, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has been elected as the Vice-President of the Africa International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) during a recent election in Tokyo. This achievement solidifies Nigeria's growing influence in global maritime affairs.

Dantsoho's appointment marks another milestone in his career, as he previously made history as the first Nigerian to lead the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa since its establishment in 1972. The NPA spokesperson, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, stated that this appointment reflects international recognition of Nigeria's leadership in maritime development.

Under Dantsoho's leadership, the NPA has seen significant operational gains, including a rise in exports and improved trade balance. The Nigerian Economic Summit Group credited reforms for helping Nigeria achieve a trade surplus for the first time in years.

The IAPH, founded in 1955 and headquartered in Tokyo, is a global alliance.
