NPFL's Anas Yusuf to Compete for Nigeria Pitch Award

Anas Yusuf, the top scorer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) from Nasarawa United FC, is set to compete with notable Nigerian forwards Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray S.K. and Ademola Lookman of Atlético de Madrid for the Rashidi Yekini Award for Best Striker of the Year at the 12th Nigeria Pitch Awards Ceremony. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Ibis Hotel, Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

The ceremony will feature awards in 18 categories, including the King of the Pitch category, where Lookman, the 2024 winner, will also face competition from Fulham defender Calvin Bassey. Dr. Shina Phillips, President of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, expressed that hosting the ceremony demonstrates faith in Nigerian football, despite delays in scheduling due to logistical issues.

The awards aim to recognize and encourage players for their contributions to the sport since the inaugural event in 2013.
