Violence Erupts in Ilorin During NPFL Match Draw

During a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on a rescheduled fixture date, Rivers United faced Kwara United in Ilorin, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The match saw Kwara United's Samsudeen Moham score in the 32nd minute, followed by a late equalizer from David Sholumad, who capitalized on a rebound from the Kwara goalkeeper.

Following the match, violence erupted as home fans turned the Ilorin stadium into a war zone. Rivers United's general manager, Okei Kpalukwu, was reportedly beaten severely, suffering injuries that caused blood to gush from his face.

The NPFL is expected to receive a match commission report regarding the incident, which follows a trend of fan misconduct in the league, leading to heavy fines and venue bans for other teams like Katsina United and Kano Pillars.
