Kaduna Upgrades Ahmadu Bello Stadium to Boost Sports

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially handed over the Ahmadu Bello Stadium to the Kaduna State government for an upgrade, following a memorandum of understanding signed on Thursday. This transfer, which received presidential approval, will increase the stadium's capacity from 12,000 to 32,000 seats.

Malam Shehu Dikko, the NSC Chairman, and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State signed the agreement, emphasizing the unprecedented growth in Nigeria's sports sector, with over 373 medals won across various sports in 2025. The project aims to stimulate economic activity and sports tourism in Kaduna and is expected to be completed within eight months.

The NSC plans to revamp and construct world-class sports facilities nationwide, aligning with the federal government's vision for sports development. Governor Sani commended the NSC's leadership and reaffirmed Kaduna State's commitment to maximizing the economic potential of sports.
