Kaduna Government and NSC Sign MoU for Stadium Upgrade

On Thursday, February 26, the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Kaduna State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transfer ownership and transform Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. The agreement, signed by NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, follows presidential approval and aims to increase the stadium's capacity from 12,000 to 32,000.

Mallam Dikko emphasized the importance of sports in contributing to the economy, highlighting a target of creating 140,000 direct and indirect jobs through sports initiatives. He noted that sports should contribute at least 3% to the nation's GDP annually.

The project is part of a broader strategy to enhance sports infrastructure across Nigeria, with plans to collaborate with the private sector to revamp stadiums in various states, ensuring compliance with FIFA standards. Senator Sani praised the NSC's efforts and reiterated the administration's commitment to sports development.
