Eniola Bolaji Becomes First African World Para Badminton Champion

Eniola Mariam Bolaji has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first African athlete to reach the final of the World Para Badminton Championship, where she claimed a silver medal in the women's SL3 category. This accomplishment has propelled her to the top of the global rankings with 63,950 points, surpassing Indonesia's Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh.

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, described Bolaji's achievement as a defining moment for Nigerian sports. Director General of the Commission, Bukola Olopade, praised the Badminton Federation of Nigeria for its strategic development of the sport and dedication to athlete welfare.

The National Sports Commission extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for sports development in Nigeria. Bolaji's success adds to her legacy as she prepares for the 2024 Summer Paralympics, where she previously made history by winning a bronze medal in the women's singles SL3 event.
