D’Tigress Captain Ogoke Retires at 35, Honored by NSC

D’Tigress captain Ogoke officially announced her retirement at the age of 35 on Monday during a ceremony in Lyon. The National Sports Commission, chaired by Shehu Dikko, expressed pride in Ogoke's contributions to the national team over the years.

Dikko conveyed admiration from Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, noting that Ogoke's life and career have inspired millions. Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the Commission, described Ogoke as a living legend whose achievements have set a standard for upcoming athletes.

Despite her retirement from active play, Olopade emphasized that her experience will remain valuable to Nigerian sports. Ogoke has been a pivotal figure in Nigerian women's basketball, having won five Afrobasket titles.

The D’Tigress plans to honor their former captain with a fitting farewell during their final game at the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament in Germany on Tuesday.
