Nigeria Sports Commission Celebrates Week of Success

The Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) reviewed a week of significant achievements in Nigerian sports, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's impact on the sector. Under Tinubu's approval, Nigeria is set to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the CAF Awards ceremony.

NSC Director General Bukola Olopade noted the current administration's commitment to investing in sports, which has yielded visible results. Nigeria's athletes excelled in various competitions, including the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling Championships in Abuja, where they won a total of 16 medals (9 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze).

Additionally, Nigerian aquatics athletes received recognition at the 17th Africa Aquatics Championships in Oran, Algeria, and secured three bronze medals. The athletes also qualified for the 2026 World Athletics Relay in Gaborone, Botswana, and the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

The NSC remains dedicated to sustaining momentum in talent discovery and grassroots development.
