NSC Plans Major Upgrade for Nigeria's Hockey Facilities

The National Sports Commission (NSC), under the leadership of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, has reaffirmed its commitment to overhauling Nigeria's hockey infrastructure. During a meeting with Seif El Dine Ahm, President of the African Hockey Federation, Dikko pledged to provide world-class facilities as part of a nationwide upgrade program.

The Nigeria Hockey Federation, represented by Engin Simon Obadiah Nkom, responded positively to the call for modern artificial playing surfaces. Dikko assured that the federal government has already initiated plans to restore and upgrade sports infrastructure across the country, with the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja being one of the first beneficiaries of this redevelopment program.

The initiative aims to ensure that hockey pitches meet international standards, with the support of top specialists. Furthermore, Dikko disclosed that the federal government has approved plans to establish a national sports infrastructure development bond, collaborating with the Ministry of Finance and private sector experts to mobilize funds for sports infrastructure nationwide.
