NSCDC Arrests POS Operator for Defiling 14-Year-Old

AbdulGaniyu AbdulRahman, a 36-year-old Point of Sale operator in Ilorin, Kwara State, was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. The arrest followed a complaint from the victim's father, who reported that his daughter had been subjected to repeated sexual abuse by AbdulRahman.

The NSCDC's Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, stated that the suspect became acquainted with the victim through his business and exploited this relationship by inviting her to his shop and later to an uncompleted building, where the assaults occurred. The suspect allegedly threatened the victim to prevent her from disclosing the incidents and reportedly gave her a herbal mixture that caused her to become weak and disoriented.

A medical examination confirmed evidence of previous hymenal injury associated with sexual activity. The NSCDC plans to arraign AbdulRahman in court after concluding investigations.

Commandant Abbas Mohammed condemned the abuse and emphasized the importance of protecting children.
