POS Operator Arrested for Alleged Rape of Minor in Kwara

AbdulGaniyu AbdulRahman, a POS operator in the Adeta area of Ilorin, Kwara State, was arrested by operatives of the NSCDC Kwara State Command for allegedly raping a minor. The arrest followed a complaint from the victim's father at the Command’s Gender Unit, which detailed repeated sexual abuse of his teenage daughter.

Investigators found that AbdulRahman had become acquainted with the victim through his business and exploited this relationship by inviting her to his shop and later to an uncompleted building where the assaults occurred on different occasions. The suspect allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed the incidents, instilling fear that kept her silent for some time.

During the investigation, the victim reported that AbdulRahman had given her a herbal mixture that caused her to become weak and disoriented. A medical examination confirmed evidence of a previous hymenal injury associated with sexual activity.

The NSCDC stated that AbdulRahman would be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded. Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed condemned the incident and emphasized the need for child protection.
