NSCDC Arrests Fake Soldier for PoS Fraud in Kwara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State arrested a 34-year-old man named Akinola Tosin for allegedly defrauding point-of-sale (PoS) operators. The suspect reportedly used fake bank transfer alerts to deceive victims into believing successful transactions had occurred, obtaining a total of N40,600.

Following a complaint from a PoS operator, preliminary investigations revealed that Tosin had a pattern of fraud involving impersonation of military personnel to gain public trust. He was found to possess a fake military identification card and related paraphernalia.

Items recovered from him included eight ATM cards and a national identity card. During interrogation, Tosin confessed to previous fraudulent activities involving multiple victims.

Further investigations identified an accomplice, Feranmi Idoko Godwin, who remains at large. The NSCDC, led by commandant Abba Mohammed, reaffirmed their commitment to combat crime in the state and urged the public to verify electronic transactions to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
