NSCDC Arrests Four Suspected Phone Thieves in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested four suspects connected to phone theft in Kano State's Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government Area. The arrests were confirmed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the NSCDC's public relations officer, on Friday.

The suspects—Yusuf Auwal (18), Abubakar Abdullahi (21), Huzaifa Isma'il Aliyu (27), and Yushau Abubakar (17)—were apprehended during a routine patrol after receiving a tip-off from a resident. The suspects were reportedly involved in attacks on individuals, snatching mobile phones from passersby during Taraweeh prayers.

The NSCDC recovered a sharp knife and two parcels of suspected marijuana from the suspects. The command emphasized that street crime, particularly phone snatching, remains a security concern in Kano, especially in densely populated areas.

The NSCDC has intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations to combat this trend, leading to multiple arrests of individuals involved in phone theft and vandalism across the state.
