NSCDC Arrests Six for Pipeline Vandalism in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested six male suspects, aged between 20 and 32, for allegedly vandalizing Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) pipelines in Abuja. The arrests occurred in Pagada I, Dobi Ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, where the suspects were caught siphoning petrol.

Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant of NSCDC, stated that the arrests were made following credible intelligence about suspicious activities.

The suspects were found with drilling equipment and were loading petrol into jerrycans and plastic bags. Recovered items included two motorcycles, two locally fabricated firearms, and four 25-litre jerrycans of suspected stolen petrol.

Preliminary investigations indicated that one suspect recruited accomplices and that local vigilante members provided support during the operation. Odumosu condemned pipeline vandalism as economic sabotage and warned that the NSCDC would not tolerate such actions.

He urged the community to provide timely information to aid in combating vandalism.
