NSCDC Deploys 1,542 Personnel for Eid Security in Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command has deployed 1,542 personnel to ensure adequate security during the Eid el-Kabir celebrations scheduled for May 27, 2026. Commandant Saidi Akintayo announced this deployment during a news conference in Benin City.

The personnel will be drawn from various specialized units, including the tactical team, counter-terror unit, intelligence investigation department, armed squad, and agro-ranger operations department. Their strategic positioning will cover Eid prayer grounds, marketplaces, recreational centers, highways, motor parks, and other vulnerable locations.

Akintayo emphasized the importance of intensified patrols and intelligence gathering to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festival. He warned criminal elements to stay away, stating that the command is prepared to decisively deal with anyone threatening public peace.

Akintayo also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities. The Eid el-Kabir festival commemorates the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, marking the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
