NSCDC Officer Victoria Ogbodo Dies in Training Accident

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is mourning the death of its female officer, Victoria Ogbodo, who sustained serious injuries during a tactical rescue operation drill. The exercise, which was part of the preparations for the 2026 World Civil Defence Day, aimed to simulate the rescue of kidnapped school children.

Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to the intensive care unit at Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital in Abuja, Ogbodo succumbed to her injuries. In a statement released on Sunday, the NSCDC's public relations officer, Babawal Zaid Afolabi, expressed shock and pain over the incident, extending condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased officer.

The NSCDC has assured that Ogbodo will receive a befitting burial and that her family will be compensated with post-service benefits. The command emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards and operational protocols to prevent future workplace hazards during such exercises.
