NSCDC Seals Steel Firms Over Railway Sabotage Claims

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken action against steel firms linked to railway sabotage by sealing their facilities nationwide. This decision follows a court order obtained to arrest suspects and recover vandalized railway materials allegedly traced to the companies' premises in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

NSCDC spokesperson Babawal Afolabi addressed journalists, stating that the investigation involves a conspiracy to commit felony, endangering railway passengers, and obstructing railway infrastructure. The firms implicated include Inner Galaxi Steel and Jiux Integrated Industries Ltd, with operations in Abia and Zamfara States.

A staff member from one of the companies reportedly confessed during interrogation about the vandalism of critical railway components. NSCDC has emphasized its commitment to protecting national infrastructure and has called on the public to provide credible information to curb economic sabotage.

The sealed facilities will remain closed pending the conclusion of the investigation, as the agency aims to reduce acts of vandalism that threaten public safety and transport.
