NSCDC Launches Five-Year Strategy for National Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), led by Commandant General Abubakar Audi, unveiled a comprehensive five-year strategy aimed at strengthening national security and boosting operational efficiency within the corps. This announcement was made during a high-level meeting in Abuja, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase following Audi's reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The strategy includes addressing internal challenges such as staff stagnation and salary arrears, with ongoing efforts to settle outstanding payments. Audi emphasized the importance of building capacity and developing standardized training curricula.

The NSCDC has made significant strides in combating oil theft and illegal mining, dismantling 400 illegal refineries and prosecuting over 1,000 suspects. Future plans involve deploying advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and drone surveillance, to protect critical national assets.

The strategy also prioritizes the establishment of specialized units to safeguard power infrastructure and maintain discipline among personnel.
