NSCIA Investigates Walida-Abducted SSS Operative Case

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has begun an inquiry into the controversy surrounding Walida Abdulhadi, a young Muslim woman from Jigawa State, and Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, a State Security Service (SSS) operative. The case involves allegations that Onyewuenyi abducted Walida, who is claimed to be a minor, and forced her to convert to Christianity.

Walida's family alleges that she was born in 2008, making her a minor during the events that began in 2023. However, Walida asserts she was born in 2004, making her 19 years old when she met Onyewuenyi in Abuja.

The situation escalated when Walida refused to return to her family, citing threats from her uncle. The SSS has described her as being under protective custody.

The NSCIA is taking formal steps to address the matter, emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation. The Jigawa State government has also confirmed its involvement to ensure a fair legal process.
