NDDC Projects to Boost Economic Activities in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Yenagoa Branch, led by Chairman Eluanatein Mac Jokori, reviewed the infrastructure projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Thursday. Jokori stated that these road and bridge projects could significantly enhance economic activities by improving access to markets and connecting rural communities.

He cited specific projects such as the Ogbia-Nembe Road, Yenegwe-Ogbia Road rehabilitation, Emeyal-Elebele Road, and Otuasega-Obedum-Emelego Road, which are expected to transform transportation and commercial activities in Bayelsa State and neighboring areas. Jokori noted that the 25.7-kilometre Ogbia-Nembe Road, which includes seven bridges and 9.15 kilometres of prefabricated vertical drains, has improved connectivity between Ogbia and Nembe and facilitated access to Yenagoa.

He also mentioned other significant projects in Akwa Ibom and Abia States that address longstanding transportation challenges, ultimately aiming to reduce dependence on difficult water crossings and improve access to essential services.
