FG Launches Vocational Training for 18,000 Artisans

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a vocational training program targeting over 18,000 artisans across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative, part of ongoing efforts to address youth unemployment, was announced during an event led by Dr. Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Reduction.

The program, organized by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), aims to empower participants with essential skills over a two-week training period. The training will commence at 229 centers nationwide and will cover high-demand vocational trades such as automotive technology, agricultural technology, baking, confectionery, carpentry, and more.

Beneficiaries will also receive entrepreneurship development training, including business management and financial literacy. Each participant will be provided with a starter pack to facilitate immediate business start-up.

The selection process for beneficiaries is designed to be transparent and inclusive, prioritizing unemployed youth, women, and economically disadvantaged individuals.
