Lagos State Launches Artisan Skills Training for 1,200

The Lagos State Government initiated its 2026 up-skilling programme for tradesmen and artisans, targeting to train 1,200 artisans over the next eight weeks. The programme, organized by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, commenced at the STO Resource Centre, Debt Management Office, Alausa, Ikeja.

Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, stated that the initiative reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to human capital development and economic inclusion. The training will focus on modern techniques and technological competencies necessary for artisans to thrive in the 21st-century economy.

The eight-week programme will take place simultaneously at Government Technical Colleges in Agidingbi, Ikotun, and Ikorodu, providing practical, hands-on training. Each participant will receive working tools upon completion to enhance productivity.

Ajigbotafe emphasized the importance of discipline and commitment for beneficiaries to leverage the knowledge gained for greater economic opportunities.
