NSITF Wins Landmark Judgment Against Anambra Agency

On June 4, 2026, the National Industrial Court in Awka delivered a landmark judgment favoring the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) against the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) for failing to comply with the Employees’ Compensation Act (ECA) of 2010. The court upheld NSITF's claims, affirming that ANSIPPA is a qualified employer under the ECA and is therefore required to make monthly contributions to the employee compensation fund while maintaining accurate payroll records.

The court ordered NSITF to conduct a comprehensive assessment of ANSIPPA's compliance with the law and established that ANSIPPA would be liable for payments as per statutory provisions. Additionally, the court awarded litigation costs of ₦500,000 against ANSIPPA.
