NUC Approves 24 New Programmes for Kwara State University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the full-time commencement of 24 new programmes at Kwara State University, Malete, starting from the 2026/2027 academic session. This approval was communicated in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, dated June 19, 2026, and signed by Abubakar M.

Girei, NUC’s director of academic planning. The new programmes consist of 14 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate offerings.

The undergraduate programmes include B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc.

Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc.

Nursing Science, and various B.Ed. degrees, among others. The postgraduate programmes encompass M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Fine and Applied Arts, Performing Arts, Linguistics, and several others.

In response to the approval, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh expressed excitement and commended the university staff for their dedication during the resource verification exercise, reaffirming the institution's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community development.
