NUC Approves BNSc Program at UBTH College of Nursing

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) College of Nursing Sciences approval to commence the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) programme in affiliation with the University of Benin (UNIBEN), effective from the academic session. This approval marks a significant development in the institution’s nursing education programme and is anticipated to provide increased opportunities for professional degree-level training in nursing.

To ensure effective administration and oversight of the programme, UBTH management inaugurated a Governing Council for the College of Nursing Sciences. This decision followed a resolution by the Hospital Management Committee to establish the council, which will provide strategic leadership and direction for the College.

Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, stated that the Governing Council has a critical responsibility to ensure strategic leadership, effective oversight, and quality assurance for the College, maintaining high academic and professional standards in line with national and international best practices.
