NAEC Collaborates with Nuclear-Aware Africa on Misinformation

Nuclear-Aware Africa, a non-governmental organization advocating for the peaceful use of nuclear technology across Africa, is seeking collaboration with the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) to address misinformation and disinformation regarding nuclear science and technology. This request was made during a courtesy visit to the NAEC headquarters in Abuja, led by Ruth Shimaor, the program director of Nuclear-Aware Africa.

Anthony Ekedegwa, the acting chairman and chief executive officer of NAEC, acknowledged the importance of this strategic partnership to enhance public understanding of the benefits of peaceful nuclear applications. The discussions focused on joint advocacy and public engagement initiatives to debunk myths surrounding nuclear technology, particularly in healthcare, agriculture, and food security.

Ekedegwa praised Nuclear-Aware Africa for its proactive role in promoting accurate information and urged the organization to continue its educational efforts to counter misconceptions about nuclear technology.
