Badejo-Okusanya Becomes First Female NBA President

Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has made history by being elected as the 33rd and first female president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA). The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, expressed its congratulations, describing her election as a defining moment for Nigeria’s legal profession and a significant milestone for women in leadership roles.

In a statement issued by Comrade Grace Ike, the chairman of the FCT Council, it was noted that Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya’s election sends a strong message that qualities such as competence, resilience, integrity, excellence, and visionary leadership are not limited by gender. The NUJ emphasized that the emergence of two women leading prominent professional bodies in Nigeria within a short timeframe signifies a shift towards valuing competence and excellence in leadership.

The union believes that these achievements will inspire future generations of women to pursue leadership roles and contribute to national development.
