NUJ FCT Press Week 2026: Democracy Lecture and Awards

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council is set to commence its 2026 Press Week from May 16 to May 22, 2026. The theme for this year's event is "2027 Elections: Defend Nigeria's Democracy Against Disinformation." The week-long program will kick off with a medical outreach at the NUJ FCT Council Secretariat in Utako, Abuja, starting at 8:00 AM on May 16.

Activities include a mental health walk on May 18 and a public lecture and awards ceremony on May 19 at the Lago Osun Hall, Transcorp Hilton Abuja, beginning at 9:00 AM. The event will conclude with a grand finale on May 22.

Governor Moham Bago of Niger State is expected to chair the lecture, with former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje serving as co-chair. The Inspector General of Police will attend as a special guest, alongside prominent political figures and media stakeholders, including Hon.

Ndudi Elumelu, who will deliver the keynote address. The NUJ FCT Council has partnered with Nizamiy Hospital to provide free medical check-ups during the outreach program.
