Ndudi Elumelu to Keynote NUJ 2026 Press Week in Abuja

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has invited former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.

Ndudi Elumelu, to deliver the keynote address at the 2026 Press Week. The event is scheduled for May 19, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The theme for this year's Press Week is "2027 Elections: Defend Democracy in an Era of Disinformation." The invitation was conveyed through a letter jointly signed by NUJ FCT Council Chairman Comrade Grace Ik and the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Oba Edesa, dated April 20, 2026. Elumelu's experience as a former lawmaker and advocate for democratic values makes him a suitable speaker for the event, which aims to engage journalists, media stakeholders, government officials, and civil society organizations in discussions about the critical role of media in safeguarding democracy against misinformation and disinformation in Nigeria's electoral process.
