NUPRC Reports 127 Million Barrels Supplied to Refineries

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) announced that more than 127 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil and condensate were supplied to domestic refineries between January and September 2026. This information was disclosed by Commission Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan on October 26 at the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week 2026 in Lagos, with Assistant Director of Operations Prosper Omonedo representing her.
The improvement in deliveries followed engagements between producers and refiners that addressed earlier commercial disagreements affecting supplies in the first quarter. The NUPRC is also considering a domestic crude swap framework to reduce transportation costs and enhance refinery access to crude.
Eyesan reported that crude oil and condensate deliveries improved in the second and third quarters due to the Commission's interventions. Under Section 109 of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, the NUPRC allocates crude oil to domestic refineries before allowing exports.
In the second quarter, domestic refineries received 53.7 million barrels of crude oil and condensate, achieving 97.4% of the expected supply performance.
