Nurse Remanded Over Corps Member's Death in Abeokuta

Nurse Adesanya has been charged with four counts, including conspiracy and attempted procurement of an abortion, related to the death of Victoria Ariyo, a 23-year-old corps member serving in Abeokuta. The alleged offenses occurred between January and March in the Ikereku area of Laderin.

Prosecutor Solomon Babalola filed an ex parte motion seeking an order to remand Adesanya for 60 days at the Ibara Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). It is alleged that Adesanya supplied drugs to Ariyo in an attempt to terminate her pregnancy, which reportedly led to her death.

The charges against Adesanya contravene sections 516, 230, 324, and 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State 2006. The magistrate, Mr.

O.O. Sam Obaley, granted the application for remand, and the case has been adjourned until May 26 for mention.
