NUT Urges Swift Action for Abducted Oyo Headmaster

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Oyo State wing has demanded the immediate rescue of M.K. Owoade, the headmaster of Nomad Basic School in Ogodu Igbojay, who was reportedly kidnapped on July 11, 2026, at approximately 5 PM while working on a farmland.

In a statement jointly signed by the state chairman, Hassan Fatai, and the state secretary, Salami Olukayode, the union expressed deep concern over the incident and highlighted the growing security challenges faced by teachers and educational workers across the country. The NUT leadership urged relevant government security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate rescue of the abducted headmaster and ensure the safety of teachers and citizens within their workplaces.

The union also expressed solidarity with the family, colleagues, and pupils of the victim, praying for a safe return and urging members to remain vigilant in light of the ongoing insecurity.
