Nwankwo Joins Nigeria's Commonwealth Games Training Camp

Rosemari Nwankwo has received an invitation to join Nigeria's Commonwealth Games training camp in Abuja after several withdrawals affected the athlete squad. The announcement was made on Wednesday, and Nwankwo is affiliated with the Nigerian Tulip International College and the Youth Sport Academy.

Initially, she was not included in the 29-athlete squad released by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria. However, following the withdrawal of U.S.-based sprinters Tima Godbless and Ella Onojuvwevwo, her inclusion was confirmed.

Nwankwo is expected to compete in the CAA African U-18 and U-20 Championships scheduled for July 4-5 in Dakar, Senegal. Despite her school commitments, she has had an impressive season, participating in three legs of the MTN Championship, helping Nigeria secure qualification for the World Championship women's 4x100m relay in Gaborone, Botswana.

Nwankwo's best times this season are 11.42 seconds for the 100m and 23.19 seconds for the 200m.
