NWFL Fines Osun Babes FC ₦2.5m for Jersey Violation

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has imposed a fine of ₦2.5 million on Osun Babes FC due to a jersey violation during a scheduled match against FC Robo Queen on February 18, 2025, at Onikan Stadium. The match did not proceed as Osun Babes failed to provide an alternate set of jerseys with clearly printed player names and numbers, despite a confirmed color clash with the home side.

Consequently, the match officials declared a walkover in favor of FC Robo Queen. According to Article 10(3) of the NWFL regulatory framework, the away team is required to wear an alternate color if a color clash occurs.

Additionally, Article 10(5) mandates that the away team must use an alternate color registered as their second choice kit. Modup Shabi, the Chief Operating Officer of NWFL, emphasized the league's commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance with regulations, reminding clubs of their responsibility to adhere strictly to league rules to avoid future sanctions.
