NWFL Fines Osun Babes FC ₦2.5 Million for Kit Breach

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has sanctioned Osun Babes FC with a fine of ₦2.5 million and a three-point deduction due to a breach of kit regulations and a walkover in their scheduled fixture against FC Robo Queen. The match, which was supposed to take place on Wednesday at Onikan Stadium, did not commence because Osun Babes FC failed to provide an alternate jersey that properly displayed player names and numbers, despite a confirmed color clash with the home team.

According to NWFL media director Samuel Ahmadu, the club violated Article 10.3 of the league's regulatory framework, which requires visiting teams to deploy a second-choice color when there is a kit conflict. Additionally, Osun Babes FC contravened Article 14.7 by failing to honor the fixture without a force majeure explanation.

The total fine includes ₦1,000,000 for the jersey infraction and ₦1,500,000 for failing to fulfill the fixture. NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modup Shabi emphasized the importance of compliance with league regulations to maintain the integrity and credibility of the league.
