Tennista Foundation Elevates Nigerian Tennis Standards

The Tennista Foundation, led by President Michael Nwoseh, has unveiled plans to enhance tennis standards in Nigeria by connecting promising young players with international scholarship opportunities. The foundation's second edition of its junior tennis tournament commenced on April 16 and concluded today at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja, featuring high-energy matches with hundreds of participants across male and female categories.

Nwoseh highlighted the introduction of a U12 mini category alongside the U16 division to expand participation and nurture talent. The tournament, which aims to create pathways for athletes to advance abroad, will conclude with winners receiving educational grants and tennis equipment, including a top prize of a racket valued at 150,000 Naira.

Nwoseh emphasized the need for corporate sponsorship to sustain and expand the foundation's initiatives, while Tund Benson, captain of the tennis section at Lagos Country Club, reaffirmed the club's commitment to youth development and support for tennis in Nigeria.
