NYCN Diaspora Enacts New Constitution for Youth Empowerment

The Nigerian Youth Council Nigeria (NYCN) Diaspora has enacted a new constitution, described by the diaspora council president, Collin Idahosa, as a landmark step toward strengthening its role as a statutory mouthpiece for coordinating Nigerian youth organizations worldwide. The newly adopted constitutional framework establishes four specialized organs to enhance transparency and accountability, including the Diaspora Youth Congress.

The primary decision made by the diaspora board of trustees will serve as an international conscience and legal supervisor, while the Diaspora Advisory Council will provide expert mentorship and policy oversight. Idahosa emphasized the council's mission to empower Nigerian youth in the diaspora for global impact and national pride.

A significant event, the Nigeria Diaspora Youth Day, is scheduled for August 22, 2026, in London, coinciding with NYCN's 62nd anniversary symposium, aimed at bringing together young professionals and stakeholders to discuss youth empowerment and cultural identity.
