NYSC Osun advocates improved welfare for serving corps members

NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, emphasized the need for improved welfare for serving corps members during a visit to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). He highlighted the disparity in remuneration, with Corps Doctors earning higher stipends than others in related healthcare professions.

Obim urged the university to review its welfare provisions to ensure fairness and motivation among corps members, pointing out that some deployed to the university radio station were not receiving stipends. OAU Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, appreciated the NYSC's role in the university's growth and pledged to create an enabling environment for corps members.

He acknowledged the importance of digital literacy and networking for corps members' future relevance. Bamire also expressed the university's intention to retain Corps Doctors to strengthen health services on campus.
