UN Commends NYSC for Rural Health Initiatives

The United Nations, represented by Felip Paullier, commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its significant impact on youth development and rural health interventions during a visit to Kabusa Community in the Federal Capital Territory on a Friday. The NYSC's health initiative, launched in 2014, aims to improve access to basic healthcare services, having already provided free medical services to five million people and expecting to reach 45,000 beneficiaries annually in rural communities.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of NYSC, highlighted the initiative's alignment with global health goals. The program has received support from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who has contributed directly to its sustainability.

Chief Samuel Kpowu, a traditional ruler in Kabusa, praised the outreach as a landmark health intervention, offering a range of services including consultations, laboratory tests, eye care, health education, and referrals, with communication facilitated in the Gbagyi language for better understanding.
