UN Commends NYSC for Advancing Youth Health Initiatives

The United Nations, represented by Felip Paullier, commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a significant agent of youth development during the flag-off of a health initiative aimed at rural dwellers in Kabusa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Paullier highlighted the NYSC's consistent provision of free medical interventions, which have benefited over five million Nigerians since the program's inception in 2014.

NYSC Director General Brig Gen Olakunle Nafiu noted that the initiative has reached 45,000 people annually across rural communities. The program received two new mobile clinics donated by Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the Senate President, to enhance its outreach.

The NYSC plans to start offering minor surgeries at no charge as part of its healthcare initiative, which aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, focusing on good health and well-being. Nafiu expressed gratitude to partners and donors for their support over the past 12 years.
