Oando and NNPC Begin Gas Delivery for Yenagoa Power Project

Oando PLC announced on April 16, 2026, that its joint venture with NNPC E&P Limited has begun gas delivery to a newly developed 60 megawatt independent power project located in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The project was inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 10, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance electricity supply in the state.

Oando explained that its joint venture plays a central role in making the power project operational by supporting the gas supply infrastructure required to run the 60MW plant. The joint venture is responsible for supplying gas to the plant under a long-term agreement designed to ensure steady operations.

Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive of Oando, stated that the project is expected to strengthen economic activities in the state and improve reliable power supply, delivering stable electricity to ten thousand homes and businesses in Yenagoa and surrounding communities. This initiative is significant for Bayelsa State, which has struggled with limited access to reliable electricity despite being a major oil-producing region.
