Oando JV Supplies Gas for Bayelsa's New 60MW Power Plant

Oando PLC announced that its upstream joint venture with NNPC has begun supplying gas to a new 60 megawatt Independent Power Plant (IPP) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The project was recently inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, who emphasized its significance in enabling development and transforming the region.

The joint venture will supply 11.2 million standard cubic feet of gas per day to ensure a steady fuel source for electricity generation. The power plant is expected to provide stable electricity to 10,000 homes and businesses in Yenagoa, significantly reducing reliance on self-generation and lowering end-user power costs.

The design integrates a dedicated distribution network and aims to improve voltage stability while reducing transmission losses. Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, highlighted the project’s role in unlocking new business opportunities and enhancing the socio-economic fabric of Bayelsa State.

The initiative is part of broader reforms in Nigeria's power sector, aimed at ensuring reliable energy supply and fostering local economic development.
