Nigeria Golf Federation Summit Set for August in Abuja

The second edition of the Nigeria Golf Federation Summit is set for August 27 and 28 at the NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja, with Oba Saheed Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi, serving as the Royal Father of the event. Mr. Lawal Garba, chairman of Trobel Nigeria Limited, will chair the summit, which will feature special guests Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun State, and Senator Simon Bako Lalong, former governor of Plateau State.

Otunba Segun Runsewe, president of the Nigeria Golf Federation, described the summit as significant, expecting industry leaders and golf enthusiasts to discuss investment and policy. The summit also aims to address the Nigeria Golf Federation's suspension by the Africa Golf Confederation in July 2026 due to unpaid fees.

Plans include introducing the Tomorrow’s Golf League concept to Nigeria and commercializing the Golf and Health Signature Facility in Abuja. Additionally, the federation is working on integrating Nigeria into the World Handicap System for international recognition of local handicaps.
