Oba Ewuare II Calls for Unity Among Political Leaders

On September 16, 2026, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku’Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, called for enhanced cooperation among Nigeria’s political leaders, emphasizing the need to prioritize national interest over partisan politics. This appeal was made at the Benin Palace during a visit from the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Abdulaziz Yari, who sought royal blessings and support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Oba Ewuare II, maintaining the non-partisan stance of the Benin traditional institution, stated that political differences should not hinder collaboration on national issues. He urged former governors, senators, and other leaders to unite for Nigeria's benefit while advising against excessive criticism of political figures.
