Oba of Lagos Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign during a visit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council (PCC) led by Abdulaziz Yari. Akiolu stated that there is "no vacancy" in Aso Rock, emphasizing the need for continued support for Tinubu to build on his administration's achievements in security and infrastructure.

Yari acknowledged the economic hardships faced by many Nigerians but pointed to signs of recovery, including efforts to stabilize the naira. He stressed that the council's support for Tinubu is based on a genuine belief in his leadership rather than mere political loyalty.

Akiolu cautioned against prioritizing electoral success over the country's welfare and urged honesty among politicians to maintain peace ahead of the 2027 general elections. The event included various APC stakeholders, highlighting a northern political push to strengthen alliances with traditional rulers as part of the campaign strategy.
