APC Governors Reject Support for Non-Party Candidates

On Monday night, Hope Uzodimma, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, announced that governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not support any political alliances that could weaken President Bola Tinubu’s re-election efforts for the 2027 general elections. This decision was made during a high-level meeting of APC governors at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The governors expressed concerns regarding the Rainbow Coalition, spearheaded by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which could potentially divide APC votes. Uzodimma stated that the APC governors unanimously resolved to focus solely on candidates sponsored by the ruling party and will not endorse any political arrangements that could undermine APC candidates.

He emphasized that the commitment of the governors is exclusively to APC candidates, aligning with the strategic objectives of the party and the expectations of the President.
