Obanikoro Turns 66, Appointed DG for Lagos Guber Poll

Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro, a prominent Nigerian politician and former High Commissioner to Ghana, turns 66 years old today, July 28. Recently, he was appointed as the director-general for the Lagos State governorship election campaign by Dr.

Obafemi Hamzat, the candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Obanikoro has a rich political history, having served as the chairman of Lagos Island Local Government and as Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture in Lagos from 1999 to 2003 under then Governor Bola Tinubu.

After a stint as a senator, he was appointed as Nigeria's High Commissioner to Ghana following his defeat as a governorship candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Additionally, he has held the position of junior minister twice, first as Minister of State for Defence and later as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs during former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
